The Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation supports initiatives in the fields of Art & Culture, Education and Community. It seeks to embody the lifelong passions and values of Vinod and Saryu Doshi, who believed that a mind is enriched through education and the spirit through art and culture. Mr. Maitreya Doshi, the Managing Trustee of the Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation and the Chairman and Managing Director of Premier Ltd., leads the Foundation. The Foundation undertakes various Educational initiatives that include, Fellowships to Indian students to pursue their Post-Graduation abroad through the Saryu Doshi Post Graduate Fellowships for Liberal Arts and Sciences. It also support financially challenged and talented young people to earn college degrees and also upgrades and modernises educational institution infrastructure.
“One of our initiatives in education is the Foundation’s association with Ved Vignan MahaVidyaPeeth, which was initiated in 2009. Through this program we have contributed to enabling primary and high school education in rural areas. This is an initiative to educate underprivileged children in rural India.” Says Maitreya Doshi, Managing Trustee of the Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation.
The Foundation has adopted the Sri Sri Gnan Mandir School at Chimbali and supports the primary education of over 113 children each year in this rural area of rural Maharashtra. “So far we have supported the primary school education for over 500 children from rural Maharashtra…”, says Maitreya Doshi who strongly believes in the project.
The school started in 2010 with 34 children taking admission and today the strength of the school has increased by 70%. Due to the various initiatives undertaken by the school in association with the Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation, such as excursions and extracurricular activities the attendance has increased by 85% and parents have also taken keen interest in the child’s education.” , says the principal of the Sri Sri Gnan Mandir School appreciating Mr. Maitreya Doshi’s support through the Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation.
“The students participate in various social initiatives such as tree plantation drive, Spreading information on the importance of the girl child being educated through street plays etc in neighbouring communities. This contributes to the overall development of the child making him/ her, a responsible citizen,” says a teacher of the school.
“The entertaining magic show was so much fun...I also learned about farming instruments and could relate to my father’s work” says Sakshi Sadashiv Dhamale, a Grade 2 student after the visit to Moranchi Chincholi organised by the Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation.
