NCPA - Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation - CentreStage 2014
- The Vinod & Saryu Doshi Foundation jointly with the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) once again brought Mumbai its annual theatre festival- CentreStage 2014. The 10-day event featuring 14 premiering plays is one of its kind in the city that showcases premiering plays in multiple languages. Accompanying the main programme are ancillary events like workshops and outdoor performances.
- This year’s selection featured an eclectic mix of genres, languages and styles of theatre. Some of the flagship plays were, the opening play ‘Jug Jug Jiyo’ with its strong social message, ‘The Government Inspector’ a contemporary spin on Nikolai Gogol’s 1836 satire, Shabana Azmi starrer ‘Happy Birthday Sunita’ by the award winning Rifco Arts and Watford Palace Theatre, 'Yerma’, a Kathak interpretation of Federico Garcia Lorca’s classic play, on 5th December. The finale was the charming one-woman show, based on a Bhisham Sahni story, Saag Meat by Seema Pahwa, where the audiences got to dine on the food the actress cooks during the performance.
